Harbourfront Centre, Toronto
summer 2009
24 youth from the community around the House of Ghesig – Native Child and Family Services in Scarborough, the 7th Generation Image Makers summer film program, as well as the area around the Six Nations reserve in south western Ontario participated in film making workshops as part of the 2009 Planet IndigenUs festival. Over the course of five days, participants wrote, shot, and edited short films under the guidance of a team of 4 mentor Aboriginal film makers - Shane Belcourt, Pamela Matthews, Amanda Strong, and Miles Turner.
The result was 11 short films exploring subjects ranging from the hazards of breakups, to the hardcore music scene in Brantford, Ontario, to why we should love the rain.
